My name is Rella Gronowitz, nee Jakobs, born in Transylvania
in the year 1927. After the war I found my way to Sweden where I received
an education in teaching and became a kindergarten teacher. I had
married young and had a large family, so it was not until the children
had grown and I retired that I was able to pursue something that had
been a dream of mine for many, many years: art.
During a long stay in the United States, I enrolled in an art course
at the Montgomery School of Art in Silver Spring, Maryland. After
returning to Sweden, I enrolled at the Gerlesborgs School of Art
where I worked on portrait painting in oil and tempera.
When I truly began to work on my own, I dedicated myself to portrait
painting in oil and copying the great masters. Abstracts, done in
pastel crayon, are a recent endeavor which I find quite satisfying.
I have had two exhibitions, one in Hollviken and one at the Konst
Hallen in Lund.
